Threekit, an online product visualization company, has partnered with Canadian e-commerce platform Shopify to offer furniture retailers and others the opportunity to let shoppers view and customize their products in 3D and augmented reality.
“We’re big fans of Shopify. Dozens of our customers use the platform and many have even used Shopify Plus to scale massively,” said Matt Gorniak, CEO of Threekit. “We built Threekit to allow brands to create beautiful product customization in 3D, AR and high-definition images, and our Shopify integration is the next version of this.”
Research from Shopify, published in March, showed that one of the primary ways companies can bring the in-store experience online is by offering 3D models in augmented reality. Shopify stats show that these visuals can increase conversion rates by up to 250% on product pages.
Vendors on the Shopify marketplace can now customize items in real-time, show customized products in augmented reality and use Threekit’s Virtual Photographer to replace physical photoshoots. Gorniak said using these new options will help to reduce product returns and offer a more simple integration experience for merchants.
Furniture companies such as Fyrn, Haus, and Rustic Trades are currently using the Shopify platform, while others including Herman Miller and Crate and Barrel work with Threekit directly.
Last April, the tech company rolled out its newest product, configurable augmented reality, which allows shoppers to see and customize millions of product variations.
